I was contacted by a local lady requesting help in designing a tattoo. She is fighting endometrial cancer and wanted something beautiful and would spark conversation and bring awareness to this "not so known" cancer. She sent me about five designs that had elements she liked. I suggested we could make it even more personal by including things that represent her personally. After a few conversations and a few revisions she is thrilled with the final design.
Here is a breakdown of the symbolism and decisions made on the overall look of the design:
1. The center ribbon is peach coloured which represents uterine/endometrial cancer. So many ribbons, they are a small yet recognizable symbol of the fight all too many people are in.
2. The overall shape are representative of the female reproductive organs. Being a design of beauty in which it is obvious but not obvious of what it is.
3 The leaves, vines and bird represents my clients respect for Mother Earth and her healing energy.
4. The paw print is drawn from a photo of her deceased dog paw. This dog was my clients best friend misses him immensely. Pets are such a rock of comfort and stability who become integral part of our lives.
5. Stargazer lillies, her favourite. Solace in favourite beautiful things bring strength when times are tough.
6. The whole tatto I designed in a colourful stained glass style. Stained glass art is a hobby of my client she enjoys. Colours symbols of hope, life and joy. Losing oneself in art can be an escape from trials that in the end evolves full circle to healing.
I hope in my own small way I have helped this sister woman in her journey to a whole new healthy life.
Blessings to all.
